Water colour pencil - sunflower

Image
Doing a glass or transparent container is tricky, especially when you're not copying it from a photo. This piece is one from my imagination using water colour pencil on a sketch pad.

Love boat

Image
So how was the month of ‘love’ for you? Did you make it memorable or was it forgettable? I had a blast with mine, one of the most memorable, ever. As we bid February goodbye, here’s another of my works. May you sail on past the sunset and the sunrise on the ocean of life with the one that you love who loves you back and may each day make your relationship stronger, deeper and much more treasured Oil pastel on paper – Sailboat lovers

George and Winona (immortalize your pets)

Image
Another risk I took in memory of my two beloved fishes George and Winona who died to unknown causes. Oil pastel on paper. Yes, you can immortalize your pets on canvass too.

Roses and grapes

I've been busy and haven't romanced my brushes and sticks for a while so finally, I've decided to make time for them and here's one of my recently finished project. I know, it still could use some tweaking. Acrylic - September 2011

CREATIVE CORNER

A corner in my house where some of my dad’s work is on display and some of mine too. Whatever kind of art you’re into, exhibit your work however simple or small they are. Find a convenient place in your house to show your creative side.

You in your work

Image
Do you see yourself in your work? Your art is also an extended version of yourself or an expression of your personality. I’m usually a jovial person and you can see that on most of my paintings. They are brightly colored and full of life. I like vibrant colors and more than two or three on my work like this one: I know, I need to get a better camera.

Dad's Horsey (making somethiing out of scrap)

Image
Dad made this wooden horse for the nephews a few months back from the trunk of a neighbor's tree. He always comes up with something very creative recycling something that many would already consider scrap and junk. I'll be featuring his works now and then here.

My first duck experience (try and try)

Image
This is my third try at doing ducks (acrylic on a board). Finally after not giving up, I think this one is acceptable. I still have to work on the water, the current, the beak and the shadows of the duck on the water. The colors look better in the actual painting though. My web camera doesn't display the exact colors and the brilliancy. Well, practice makes perfect so we'll just have to keep trying.

Recycled masterpiece

Image
My dad happened to find a withered coconut shell one time he was out walking to church and his ingenuity kicked in. He took it home, cut it in half, put a latch on it, polished it, finished it up with varnish and turned it into an odd shaped mini chest with the verse Matt. 6: 18-19. I loved it the first time I saw it and asked him if I could have it. So now, the “once” dull, dry, worthless coconut shell being kicked around in the street by passersby has become the keeper of my bead earrings, a masterpiece from a creative mind.
